2 medium size or 4 small size onions, washed and skin peeled.
Oil to fry
Mustard seeds, urad dal and curry leaves for the tempering
For the Stuffing:
Fried gram - 2 tbsp
Desicated Coconut - 50 gm
Coriander powder - 1tsp
Chilli powder - 1 tsp
Jaggery - 1 tsp
Tamarind paste - 1 tbsp
Blend all the ingredients for the stuffing and fill it inside the onions, splitting them very gently.
In a fry pan, do the tempering and arrange the stuffed onions. Sprinkle water frequently and cook
on a medium flame for 10 mins.If you need gravy, increase the stuffing quantity and add it to the half cooked onions and ad more water. For a dry dish, Sprinkle water and cook covered in a very low flame for another 15 mins.
Serve with rice or roti!!
